Role Overview:
The Childcare Professional at Severns Valley Baptist Church provides essential support to our preschool ministry and childcare services. This role involves working directly with young children, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment, and supporting the broader mission of the church to equip families in their faith journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support leadership and teaching in preschool ministry on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
- Build relationships with preschool families and encourage their spiritual growth.
- Assist with classroom setup, curriculum preparation, and seasonal decorating.
- Ensure all preschool and childcare environments are safe, clean, and welcoming.
- Work collaboratively with the Preschool & Childcare Ministry Coordinator and the SVkids team.
- Participate in supporting special ministry events and seasonal programs as needed.
Schedule Requirement:
- Ability to work a minimum of 6 shifts per month, with occasional flexibility required for special events such as VBS, MOPS, and WinShape.
- Primary Shift Availability: Monday - 5:30p to 8:30p; Tuesdays - 9:00a to 12:00p; Wednesdays - 5:00p to 8:00p.
Qualifications:
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ
- Member (or willing to become a member) of Severns Valley Baptist Church.
- Basic knowledge of preschool development and an ability to teach in an age-appropriate way.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children.
- Dependable, flexible, and motivated by a servant’s heart.
Training and Development:
Severns Valley Baptist Church is committed to the growth of its team members. Childcare Professionals will participate in periodic certification and workshops to train and equip them with the skills necessary to excel in their role and support the ministry.
Compensation: $13.00 per hour
